A 50-year-old policeman from the Manila Police District is the latest to have succumbed to coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19), bringing the total Philippine National Police (PNP) death toll to 31.
Lt. Gen. Guillermo Eleazar, PNP’s Administrative Support and Covid-19 Task Force commander, on Monday said the police officer died of the disease on Sunday.
Latest data show that recoveries comprise 95.2 percent of 10,782 Covid-19 cases in the police force.
As of Sunday night, Eleazar reported that the police force currently has 481 active cases while 122 more have recovered, pushing the tally of recoveries to 10,270.
The PNP logged 101 new cases, while 18 patients and 463 patients are recuperating in hospitals and quarantine facilities, respectively, Eleazar noted.
As of Monday, a total of 91,837 policemen have been tested or 41.9 percent of the 219,103 PNP members, Eleazar said. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
