THE DEPARTMENT of Tourism reminded visitors travelling to Cebu province to continue following the health and safety protocols imposed by the national government after Governor Gwendolyn Garcia signed Executive Order (EO) 12 which no longer require RT-PCR test for visitors from other provinces.

All the tourists need to prepare are a valid medical certificate issued within 7 days before the travel date and proof of booking at a hotel or resort accredited by the Cebu Provincial Tourism Task Force. They must also pass through symptoms checking at the point of departure and point of arrival.
Tourism Secretary Bernadette Puyat said they fully recognizes the prerogative of local chief executives in deciding what protocols will best suit their particular situations, but health protocols must be followed at all times.
“We remind our tourists and stakeholders of the need to still strictly ensure minimum health and safety protocols such as wearing of a face mask and face shield, (observe) physical distancing, hand sanitizing, and booking or operating in DOT-accredited establishments, among others to protect both the tourists, tourism workers and the residents of our host communities,” she said.
Puyat said the DOT is for the safe re-opening of tourist destinations because this would allow the country to restart the economy and help tourism workers get back to their jobs.
Garcia earlier issued EO No. 9 which eased the travel restrictions for persons coming to the province following the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases (IATF-MEID) guidelines. The EO removed the required letter of acceptance from the local government of destination from the list of documentary requirements.
Authorized persons outside of residence (APOR) also are no longer needed to undergo mandatory testing or quarantine protocols of their destination in Cebu. They only need to present valid work identification card, an original or certified true copy of a travel authority or order, and passed the symptoms screening at the port upon arrival, and strictly comply with the minimum health standards.
Non-APORs are also allowed to enter into the province as long as they present a valid medical certificate and pass symptoms screening at the point of departure and at the point of arrival.
Garcia recently met with the Tourism Task Force and representatives of tour operators, travel agencies, and airliners, among others to finalize the guidelines for the re-opening of the tourism industry.
In the meeting, tour operators and agencies suggested to create a competitive package to entice tourists to come to Cebu. Andrew Teh, representative of Cebu Alliance of Tour Operations Specialist, suggested the travel package be dubbed as “Suroy-Suroy Sugbo,” a four-day, three-night trip at an affordable price. He urged the tourism stakeholders such as airliners, travels and tour operators, as well as resorts and restaurants to contribute to the package inclusions.
