CHIEF COVID frontliner Mayor Beng Climaco thanked the Department of Health (DOH) and the United Nations (UN) for their donations as the local government continues to battle the alarming increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in Zamboanga City.
Climaco, head of the local Covid-19 task force, said the DOH donated five ambulances and 10 units of mobile phones. Dr. Joshua Brillantes, the DOH regional director, said the ambulances will help augment the emergency response of the City Health Office.
The mayor and other local government officials led by City Administrator Apple Go received the ambulances.
The UN High Commissioner for Refugees also donated 240 hygiene kits to members of the indigenous tribes here. The distribution of the kits was facilitated by the City Social Welfare and Development Office, the Integrated Resources Development for Tri-People, National Commission for Indigenous Peoples, Civil Registrar's Office and Commission on Human Rights and other partners.
Climaco thanked the UN for the donations which largely benefited those whose birth registration were late. “Muchisimas gracias for your commitment to help our people, especially in this time of the Covid-19 pandemic. Vaya con Dios,” said Climaco. (Zamboanga Post)
