THE BIREAU of Customs-Port of Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-Port of NAIA) has cleared the first batch of Pfizer-BioNTech coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) vaccines consisting of 193,050 doses.
In a statement on Tuesday, the bureau said the vaccines which arrived via a DHL Flight No. LD 457 from Denmark on Monday were immediately taken to the Pharmaserv warehouse in Marikina City.
Prior to its arrival, the shipment was pre-cleared at the BOC NAIA One-Stop-Shop.
The American pharmaceutical firm's Covid-19 vaccine got an emergency use authorization (EUA) from the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) in January.
The BOC has so far cleared around 7.7 million doses of Covid-19 vaccines.
Previous shipments cleared include 5 million doses of Sinovac, 2,525,600 doses of AstraZeneca, and 15,000 doses of Sputnik V.
Pfizer vaccines are required to be stored at a temperature of minus 70 to minus 80 degrees Celsius. (By Ferdinand Patinio(
