Brigada executive killed

GENERAL SANTOS CITY – Motorcycle gunmen shot dead a senior executive of the media giant Brigada while driving home from work in the southern Philippine city of General Santos.

The 39-year old Yentez Quintoy died on the spot after Friday’s attack. She was the Executive Office Durector and Chief of Staff of Brigada, a tri-media news and entertainment company.

The Brigada Group of Companies has condemned the killing and offered a P1 million bounty to anyone who can provide information that will lead to the capture of the murderers.

“We lost one of our pillars – Yentez A. Quintoy, Executive Office Director and Chief of Staff, to an assassin’s bullet at noon today (June 4) as she was driving home, the usual thing she does, to have lunch with her children. The assailants were on board a black motorcycle, who approached Ms. Quintoy and shot her at close range.”

“Brigada is in full cooperation with the proper authorities even as initial steps have already been to get into the bottom of this. Her untimely demise is a big loss to the company at this time that we are all faced with numerous challenges brought by the pandemic,” Brigada said in a statement.

Police said Quintoy was tailed by the gunmen and shot her along NLSA Road in the village of San Isidro. No individual or group claimed responsibility for the daring broad daylight killing.

Captain Abdulsalam Mamalinta, of the local police force, said they are investigating the murder and the motives of the attack.  (Rhoderick BeƱez)
