CEBU CITY – The Department of Health (DOH) urged all local governments in Central Visayas to put up their own barangay mobile Covid-19 vaccination teams to speed up the inoculation of those in the A1, A2 and A3 priority lists.
A1 refers to frontline workers in health facilities and A2 are senior citizens while A3 are those adult with comorbidities or persons with two or more diseases or medical conditions.
DOH Regional Director Dr. Jaime Bernadas said the mobile vaccination centers will benefit those who cannot go to established vaccination sites, especially people with disabilities and the elderly.
“You know our senior citizens have limited mobility or some of them are poorly mobile so our vaccination team in barangays should try to evolve into something that is more friendly to senior citizens and friendly to those who really cannot go to our vaccination post,” Bernadas said.
These mobile vaccination teams, he said, should do the necessary evaluation and screening before inoculation, as well as the required post-inoculation observation time for at least an hour to monitor adverse events of the vaccines, if any.
Bernadas also advised local governments
to prepare a substitution list that can be used in case those who are scheduled
to be vaccinated under the A1, A2 and A3 priority lists fail to show up. (John Rey Saavedra)
