THE PHILIPPINE National Police (PNP) and the Bayaning Pulis Foundation, Inc. on Wednesday signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) which provides educational grants to dependents of police uniformed personnel who died or have become incapacitated in the performance of duty or office.
PNP chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar and Ambassador Benedicto Yujuico, Philippine Chamber of Commerce (PICC) president and Bayaning Pulis Foundation, Inc. chair signed the MOA in a ceremony at the PCCI Innovation Center at the Double Dragon Meridian Park, Pasay City.
“Today’s (Wednesday) signing of the Memorandum of Agreement with Bayaning Pulis Foundation Inc. recognizes the sacrifices of our PNP heroes in safeguarding the peace and security of the country amid the pandemic, and serve to boost the morale and welfare of every PNP personnel and their family, which is among the highpoints of our action plan," Eleazar said.
After the formal signing of the MOA, 22 beneficiaries, composed of elementary to college students, received educational grants from the foundation with four guardians receiving the educational grant for their children while other beneficiaries virtually attended the ceremony.
“Ang aking hamon: buong puso ninyong yakapin ang mga katangian ng isang marangal na pulis, may integridad, malinis, mapagkumbaba at mapagkakatiwalaan sa pagbibigay ng tunay na serbisyo publiko. (My challenge now to all police officers is to whole-heartedly accept and fulfill the traits of an honorable police officer, with integrity, orderly, humble and trustworthy and willing to provide real public service)," Eleazar said.
The Bayaning Pulis Foundation is a non-profit charitable organization launched by the PCCI in 2020, in partnership with the PNP, that focuses on providing financial assistance and social outreach to the families of police officers who lost their lives or became permanently disabled in the line of duty.
