THE SUNDAY lockdown in Zamboanga City has been extended until August 29 as part of preventive measures aimed at controlling the spread of Covid-19, especially now that the Delta variant is prevalent in the country.
In an advisory released by the local government, residents are advised to stay at home during the lockdown. It said only those going to places of worship and health and security frontliners, and those involved in emergency situations are allowed to go out during Sunday.
Children up to 17 years old and below are not allowed outdoors. Religious activities shall be limited to 30% venue capacity. And groceries and supermarkets shall only serve those authorized by authorities, but restaurants and food servers shall only accommodate deliveries and takeout orders and no dine-in is permitted.
All public markets and convenience stores in barangays shall remain closed during Sunday lockdown. Public transportation is also not allowed.
The advisory further said that public and private beach and river resorts, as well as inland and mountain resorts, and similar establishments will not be allowed to operate on Saturdays and Sundays.
The local government also released a short list of what residents should do when getting home to avoid infecting others in case they are exposed to Covid-19.
The following should be followed by
residents: • Take shoes off before entering your
home • Clean top and bottom of shoes with alcohol or disinfecting wipes
• With the same cleaner, wipe down
keys, cell phones, & any other items that were touched while providing care
• Throw away any papers or receipts not needed
• Don’t touch or sit on any furniture • Take your clothes off and put them in the washing machine or laundry bag. Wash clothes with warm water • Take a shower.
The list was also translated in the local Chavacano dialect and Tausug which is largely spoken in Basilan, Sulu and Tawi-Tawi. (Zamboanga Post)
