THE DEPARTMENT of Health in Region 13 (Caraga) has called on the public to take advantage of the free vaccines from the government amid the continuing rise of coronavirus disease 2019 (Covid-19) infections in the region.
DOH-13 Assistant Regional Director Salaida Raki-in, at a briefing by the Regional Vaccination Operations Center here on Tuesday (Sept. 21), urged residents to get vaccinated to protect themselves from the deadly virus and help the government attain a 70-percent herd immunity.
"No one is safe until everyone is safe. So let's help each other. The best vaccine for you is the one available to you right now," Raki-in said.
As of Sept. 17, a total of 747,332 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered in the region, the DOH-13 reported during the briefing.
A total of 373,968 individuals have been fully vaccinated in Caraga, while 373,364 have already received their first shot of Covi-19 vaccines.
The report also indicated that a total of 115,742 front-line workers were already administered with Covid-19 vaccines during the period with 54,264 already considered fully vaccinated.
In the A2 category, the DOH-13 said 177,707 senior citizens have already been vaccinated in the region with 99,149 of them already fully vaccinated.
A total of 268,647 individuals with comorbidities in the A3 category were also administered with vaccines, 184,439 of whom are considered fully vaccinated.
In the A4 category, 166,022 essential workers have already received the vaccines with 31,488 considered as fully vaccinated.
The region has also started the vaccination in the A5 category with 19,214 indigent individuals already administered with vaccines and 4,024 considered as fully vaccinated.
During the briefing on Tuesday, the DOH-13 said the region has a total of 38,939 confirmed Covid-19 cases with 31,277 recoveries, 6,407 active cases, and 1,255 deaths. (Alexander Lopez)
