VICTIMS OF a recent fire in Zamboanga City's Southcom village in Upper Calarian received additional financial aid from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Office (DSWD).

Over 100 families benefited from the DSWD’s Assistance in Crisis Situation program and the Office of the President. Mayor Beng Climaco and DSWD Assistant Secretary Jade Jamolod led the distribution of cash aid, among others, at the Southcom Elementary School covered court on August 31.
The mayor thanked the DSWD and President Rodrigo Duterte for the additional aid.
“Muchisimas gracias to the Office of the President and DSWD for always looking after the welfare of the people, especially those in dire need of assistance,” Climaco said.
The mayor previously distributed food packs, hygiene kits and
blankets and mats, among other items, to the fire victims. The fire victims
thanked Climaco and the local government, including barangay officials for
helping them.
The fire broke out at a neighborhood in Camella Drive and razed at least 95 houses. (Zamboanga Post)
