8 schools ready for face-to-face classes

CEBU CITY – Education officials said eight public schools in the province included in the pilot run of the limited face-to-face classes on November 15 have put up safety measures and health protocols against the Covid-19 disease.

These are the Basak Elementary School in Samboan, Mahanlud Elementary School in Malabuyoc, Cabagdalan Elementary School in Balamban, Luyongbaybay Elementary School in Bantayan, CaƱang-Marcelo Luna National High School in Oslob, Busay National High School in Moalboal, Pilar National High School in Camotes Island, and Siocon Elementary School in Bogo City.

Regional Director Salustiano Jimenez said each of the schools has created their own implementation plan which will serve as a guide for school principals during the two-month pilot run. He said 30 schools in Cebu, mostly in the hinterland and island villages were included in the list after the barangay councils passed a resolution saying the areas are Covid-free.

DepEd Assistant Secretary Malcolm Garma said only 30 schools have passed the safety assessment. (John Rey Saavedra)
