OVER 3,400 children with comorbidities aged 12 to 17 had been inoculated against Covid-19, according to Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire who said that more hospitals are expected to participate in the government’s paediatric vaccination program.
“Nagpaplano
na po ngayon para ma-expand pa natin itong mga hospital na ating
pinag-umpisahan para mas marami po tayong mga kabataang mabakunahan pa,” she
said.
The pilot
run of the pediatric vaccination started on October 18 and targets of the
program are children with comorbidities and those who have an impaired immune system.
Dr. Kezia
Rosario, of the National Vaccination Operations Center, said only one child had
allergic reaction to the vaccine. “Iyong isa, iyong severe case natin
ay mayroong allergic reaction siya. The rest are
related lang sa pagbabakuna na na-stress lang po sila during the
vaccination. Nothing serious naman,” she said. (Maria Teresa Montemayor)
