CEBU CITY – Mayor Michael Rama is mulling a massive vaccination campaign in all 80 villages here which aims to inoculate over a million local residents by next month.
Rama said the three-day vaccination program held from
Nov.29-Dec.1 was a huge success with residents wanting more inoculation
campaigns to protect them from the deadly Covid-19 disease.
The mayor also cited the convergence between the
business community through the Cebu Chamber of Commerce and Industry and the
Association of Barangay Council here for the successful vaccination drive.
“By January, all of us will become
immune from Covid-19 then we will fully open the economy. We’ll not be back to
the situation before wherein we open then we close because of surge in cases,”
Rama said.
Rama called on residents who have
not been inoculated to get vaccinated and help prevent the spread of the
respiratory disease.
The mayor said those who would not submit themselves to vaccination should produce a medical certificate signed by a public doctor, as well as a notarized affidavit, citing their reasons for not getting a Covid-19 jab. (John Rey Saavedra)
