AS PEOPLE face uncertainties brought about by the Covid-19 pandemic, being united sends an important message that despite the many challenges, hope remains that eventually all these hardships shall pass.
Thus, to brighten everyone's moods during these trying times, Barangay San Antonio in Pasig City on Dec. 1 lighted the so-called "Twin Christmas Trees" at the intersection of J. Vargas and San Miguel Avenues in Ortigas Business District as a reminder that there is "light amidst darkness."
The ceremonial lighting of the 30-feet "Twin Christmas Trees" was led by Barangay San Antonio chairman Raymond Lising. Pasig City Administrator Jeronimo Manzanero, who represented Mayor Vico Sotto, was also in attendance.
This was the result of the kind gestures of the Ortigas Center Association Inc. (OCAI) that decided to pool the resources of its members to be able to put up the "Twin Christmas Trees."
The group donated lights and ornaments for the festive Christmas decors.
"Umaasa akong magtutuluy-tuloy ang ating pagtutulungan may pandemya man o wala sa mga susunod na taon. Sana ang mga ganitong pagtutulungan ay magdulot ng kahit kaunting kasiyahan at pag-asa sa gitna ng mga pangamba na dulot ng Covid-19 (I am confident that this endeavor will continue in the future with or without pandemic. I wish that this cooperation will bring joy and hope to the people amid anxieties caused by the Covid-19)," Lising added.
The “unity” Christmas trees are not just symbolic to Ortigas Business District businesses but also to both Pasig and Mandaluyong as these were put up at the border of these two adjacent cities.
Barangay San Antonio, where Pasig City’s business district is located, is home to 11,000 high-rise buildings.
