One of 2 Zambo gunslingers surrenders

A police photo shows Zamboanga City Police Chief Col. Alexander Lorenzo inspecting the firearm of Agga Sahi following his surrender Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Four people were wounded when Sahi engaged his foe in a duel in Kasanyangan village on January 24, 2022.

ZAMBOANGA CITY – One of two gunmen who engaged in a duel that wounded four people here has surrendered to the police, officials said, adding the manhunt continues for the other suspect.

Col. Alexander Lorenzo, the city police chief, said the 30-year-old Agga Sahi voluntarily surrendered to the members of the Zamboanga City Police Office Station 6 on Tuesday afternoon in the village of Calarian.

“Sahi is detained at ZCPO’s Station 6 while the other suspect, a certain Saldimar, is still at large,” Lorenzo said.

Sahi and Saldimar engaged each other in a gun duel late Monday in Kasanyangan village where four civilians - two adults and two minors - were wounded by stray bullets. Police investigators recovered eight bullet casings fired from a .45-caliber pistol and seven shell casings of a 9mm pistol.

Lorenzo said policemen hunting down Saldimar in Kasanyangan village also stumbled upon a warehouse full of smuggled cigarettes worth at least P36 million. “The operation resulted in the confiscation of 1,038 pieces of assorted brands of smuggled cigarettes worth about P36.3 million. No one appeared to declare the ownership of the assorted smuggled cigarettes which was properly turned over to the Bureau of Customs,” he said. (Mindanao Examiner)
