PNP boosts anti-corruption drive with new guidelines

THE PHILIPPINE  National Police-Internal Affairs Service (PNP-IAS) on Sunday released guidelines to intensify its anti-corruption campaign within the organization.

The new directive under the leadership of PNP chief Gen. Dionardo B. Carlos aims to strengthen the cleansing program among police personnel so the public can be guaranteed the confidence they entrust to the organization.

Under the new policies, an IAS desk will be established to urge the public to air their grievances as well as share the achievements of the law enforcers.

"Under this program, partner stakeholders can have an avenue to voice out their concerns, grievances as well as recognition for the good deeds of any personnel or unit," Carlos said.

The IAS desk shall serve as the centralized repository of all information pertaining to PNP and its personnel. Data gathered shall be used to create an intervention to address the issues and concerns.

The IAS will also focus on the speedy and impartial disposition of administrative cases against PNP personnel involved in graft and corrupt practices.

Together with the Integrity Monitoring and Enforcement Group (IMEG), immediate administrative proceedings will be conducted by IAS to determine the administrative liability of arrested PNP personnel and if the evidence will suffice their removal from service.

The PNP-AIS will also engage in an intensified proactive inspection approach wherein all PNP personnel will submit themselves to attendance checking, including appearance and public impression evaluation.

IAS is now on the final stage of drafting the procedures and parameters of the State of Discipline wherein all PNP units/stations can now closely monitor and guide their respective personnel to avoid involvement in any illegal activity such as graft and corruption.

“This is how the organization works. We continue to devise ways to better improve the system and to ensure that we remain committed to our mantra of serving and protecting the public with integrity,” Carlos said, noting that as law enforcers, the prime duty of the PNP is to uphold the rule of law. (Christopher Lloyd Caliwan)
