Leni Robredo thanks Muslims in Basilan sortie

ZAMBOANGA CITY - An estimated 45,000 people showed up at the political rally of Vice President Leni Robredo in the southern Muslim province of Basilan where she also met with various political leaders to thank them for their support.

Basilan Congressman and Deputy Speaker Mujiv Hataman on Thursday thanked residents for supporting Robredo who is running for the presidential seat in the May 2022 polls.

Hataman and his wife, Isabela City Mayor Djalia Hataman, who are strong political allies of the Vice President, welcomed Robredo and her group on Wednesday.

"Nagkulay rosas ang Isabela City Plaza sa karagatan ng Pink Warriors na Basileño kagabi. Dinagsa ng tao mula sa iba't ibang lugar sa Basilan ang ating inihandang political rally VP Leni Robredo, Sahaya BasiLENIyo! Maraming salamat, tropang angat, sa muli nyong pagbisita sa Basilan. Totoo nga po ang sinabi ni VP Leni: iilan lamang ang national government officials ang nakakabisita sa aming lalawigan. At isa kayo doon, VP Leni, na paulit-ulit na binabalikan ang mga Basileño! Rosas ang kulay ng bukas! #IpanaloNa10To!," said Hataman in Facebook page where photos of the rally were also posted. 

Robredo also thanked the Hatamans and residents of the province for the outpouring of support.

"We are thankful to Mayor Dadah Turabin-Hataman for the invitation and to the entire community for your warm welcome," she said.

"Ramdam na ramdam ni Isabela City Mayor Sitti Djalia Turabin-Hataman ang malasakit ni VP Leni para sa mga mangingisda at mamamayan ng kanilang bayan. Kaya buong-buo ang suporta niya sa ating kandidatura dahil naka-ugat ito sa tiwala na sa gobyernong tapat, walang maiiwan sa pag-angat ng buhay ng lahat," a post on Robredo's social media page said.

After her campaign in Basilan, Robredo went straight to Zamboanga del Norte's Sindangan town where she also campaigned on Thursday. (Mindanao Examiner)
