Mayor praises Darul Ifta, thanks Grand Mufti

MAYOR BENG Climaco has thanked the Darul Ifta and expressed her deep gratitude to top Muslim religious leaders for supporting and partnering with her administration on various peace projects and programs that benefit everybody in Zamboanga.

Climaco, accompanied by Jojo Abdusalam, her Executive Assistant on Muslim Affairs, visited the Darul Ifta to personally thank Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Baki Abubakar (Region 9 and Palawan) and other prominent Muslim leaders - Sheikh Walid Abubakar, Sheikh Abdulwakil Tanjili and Sheikh Abdulmujib Arip. 

The mayor also confirmed this with the Zamboanga Post in a briefed phone interview, saying: “I wanted to personally thank the Darul Ifta for its support to our peace projects and programs, the dialogues we held with them throughout my three terms and I am deeply grateful to the Darul Ifta, to Grand Mufti Abdulbaki Abubakar for partnering with us in various programs.”

The influential Darul Ifta, the Islamic advisory body, also thanked Climaco, who is running for congresswoman in District 1, for quickly approving its request to establish a mosque and office in downtown Zamboanga. 

The Grand Mufti and his group similarly expressed gratitude to Climaco for her strong leadership and for supporting the Muslim sector, especially in promoting harmony among peoples in Zamboanga, and advocating the culture of peace and unity. (Zamboanga Post)
