Dutch biz group lauds DOTr chief's 'dedication, commitment'

THE DUTCH Chamber of Commerce in the Philippines (DCCP) has lauded outgoing Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade for his support to the Dutch-Philippine business community and performance as chief of the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

“We take this opportunity to express our appreciation for the dedication and commitment that you and your department have especially exemplified during your term of office,” the DCCP said in a letter released by the DOTr on Monday. “We look forward to continuing working with you in whatever capacity the future may hold.”

The DCCP is made up of 115 active member companies and individuals and represents the Dutch-Filipino business community.

The letter was signed by DCCP president Arthur Plugge, chair Mary Ann P. Sayoc, and executive director Mitchel Smolders.

Following the win of incoming President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. in the May 2022 elections, Tugade was rumored to remain as Marcos’ secretary for transportation.

Under the Duterte administration, Tugade’s notable projects include around 250 airport and aviation projects such as the Clark International Airport, ongoing construction of major rail projects such as the Metro Manila Subway, the public utility vehicle modernization program, the rehabilitation of the MRT-3, among several others. (Raymond Carl Dela Cruz)
