ZAMBOANGA CITY chief social worker Socorro Rojas was awarded the “Gawad Parangal sa Natatanging Kontribusyon ng Manggagawang Panlipunan” by the ASEAN Social Work Consortium–Philippines.
Rojas, head of the City Social Welfare and Development Office, received the prestigious award during the 4th Filipino Social Workers’ Day celebration.
ASEAN Social Work Consortium-Philippines Chairperson Annie Glee Suarez said the award is in recognition of the social workers’ contribution to social development and people empowerment, as well as an opportunity to promote solidarity among social work practitioners across various settings.
The award is in partnership with the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
The ASEAN Social Work Consortium-Philippines is composed of nine Social Work Professional Organizations of the Philippines that include the Philippine Association of Social Workers, Inc, National Association of Social Work Education, Inc., Association of Local Social Welfare and Development Officers of the Philippines, Inc., Philippine Association of Court Social Workers, Inc., Association of Child Caring Agencies of the Philippines, League of Medical Social Workers in the Philippines, Association of Medical Social Workers of the Philippines, Inc., Association of DSWD Social Workers and National Council for Social Development.
It is also an active member of ASEAN Social Work Consortium committed to the advancement of social work practice and education in the Philippines and in South East Asia. (Zamboanga Post)
