MALACAÑANG ON Thursday expressed condolences over the passing of Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation (PAGCOR) director Carmen Pedrosa.
"The Palace extends its condolences to the family, friends and colleagues of Carmen “Chit” Pedrosa on her passing," acting Presidential Spokesperson and Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said in a press statement.
Pedrosa, 80, passed away on Wednesday, the PAGCOR said in a statement posted on its official website.
PAGCOR also expressed sadness over Pedrosa's death.
"The Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation deeply mourns the passing of one of the members of its Board of Directors, Carmen "Chit" N. Pedrosa on June 8, 2022," it said.
Pedrosa was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as one of the members of the PAGCOR’s Board of Directors on July 1, 2016.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with the loved ones of Ms. Pedrosa as they find strength in this period of mourning," Andanar said.
Pedrosa is also recognized as a veteran journalist and book author.
She started her journalism career in 1958 as a reporter for the now-defunct Manila Chronicle.
She later became editor and columnist in various newspapers.
As an author, she wrote the controversial books about the former first lady Imelda Marcos titled "The Untold Story of Imelda Marcos" and "The Rise and Fall of Imelda Marcos". (Ruth Abbey Gita-Carlos)
