HUNDREDS OF residents continue to benefit from Mayor Beng Climaco’s humanitarian program called “Dia del Alcalde” – the first in Zamboanga City where beneficiaries are provided health and social services, among others.

The program
is regularly held in different villages where residents are given free medical
consultation, including medicines for the elderly. Climaco leads the rollout of
the program alongside various local government departments and national
agencies.
Just last
week, the villages of Canelar, Mampang and Calarian benefited from the pro-poor
program. Residents and village officials have praised Climaco for the program,
one of many she has started since becoming mayor nine years ago. (Zamboanga
