ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police forces captured a notorious Abu Sayyaf terrorist here wanted for a string of murder and frustrated murder cases in the southern province of Sulu, officials said.
Officials said various police units, including elite members of the Special Action Force, swooped down on a seaside village of Arena Blanco over the weekend and captured Ban Sali Ubbie alias Ban Mannah.
The 47-year old terrorist was arrested in a house where police forces recovered three .45-caliber pistols, one .38-caliber revolver and dozens of ammunition, according to Maj. Shellamie Chang, a regional police spokeswoman.
No other details were made
available by the police, except that Ubbie is currently being investigated to
determine whether his group is planning an attack. It was unclear how Ubbie
managed to escape military operation in the province and hid in Zamboanga. (Mindanao Examiner)
