ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police arrested a local cop during an undercover drug sting where agents seized crystal meth worth at least P34,000.
Col.
Alexander Lorenzo Jr, the chief of police, said Carl Anthony Burgas Tabo-Tabo was arrested following the
drug bust in the village of San Jose Gusu on Monday. He said the 26-year old
cop is currently assigned at the central police station under temporary status.
“The
suspect was tagged as a high-value individual,” he said, adding the operation
was mounted by members of the Police Station 10 and City Drug Enforcement Unit
where Tabo-Tabo is detailed.
“The opeCol. ration was part of the PNP’s ongoing intensified cleanliness policy aimed at penalizing erring members of the organization defying strict directives and other policies,” Lorenzo said.
“The Zamboanga City Police Office urges the public to continue to support the government's nation-building efforts, particularly our battle against illegal drugs and criminality and to report any illegal activities in the area of responsibility to the nearest station,” he added.
It was unclear how Tabo-Tabo managed to pass the strict police recruitment or how he evaded regular but random drug tests here. (Mindanao Examiner)
