DRUG ENFORCEMENT teams of the Bacolod City Police Office seized suspected shabu with an estimated street value of PHP1.679 million in three separate buy-bust operations in the past five days.
On Thursday, an arrested individual yielded P748,000 worth of the prohibited substance to operatives of Police Station 8 in Barangay Singcang-Airport.
The suspect was identified as John Mark Melana, 21, of Purok Torre, Barangay Mansilingan.
At 4:26 a.m., Melana sold a plastic sachet of suspected shabu with an estimated street value of P10,000 to an undercover policeman after which, two knot-tied plastic sachets of the same substance, weighing 110 grams, were also recovered from his possession.
On the night of July 25, operatives of Police Station 2 confiscated PHP544,000 worth of suspected shabu from a male suspect and his parents in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2.
Arrested was Michael Young, 23, his father Harold, 52, and his mother Raquel, 50. They sold P1,000 worth of the illegal substance to a police poseur buyer and also yielded 19 more plastic sachets containing the same substance, weighing 80 grams.
Operatives also found in their possession a pair of scissors, a lighter, and a digital weighing scale, which are used as drug paraphernalia.
Also in Purok Sigay, Barangay 2, an 18-year-old male suspect was arrested by operatives of the City Drug Enforcement Unit on the night of July 23.
The suspect, who was detained at Police Station 2, sold P1,000 worth of suspected shabu to an undercover policeman.
He also yielded 13 sachets of the same illegal substance, weighing 57 grams, valued at P387,600. (Nanette Guadalquiver)
