BOC-Clark donates 6.3K liters of unmarked diesel to PCG

THE BUREAU of Customs (BOC) on Wednesday said the Port of Clark recently donated 6,357.80 liters of diesel fuel to the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), aimed at providing additional resources to the force to support its maritime operations.

In a statement, the bureau said the turnover of the unmarked fuel was conducted at the Port of Clark compound on July 8.

During the event, the BOC was represented by District Collector Alexandra Lumontad while Task Unit One-Stop-Shop Subic commander, Lt. Junio Grade Eunica Marie Tomioka represented the PCG.

The port seized the unmarked diesel fuel in September 2021 through the implementation of a Letter of Authority (LOA) issued by Commissioner Rey Leonardo Guerrero.

The port subsequently issued a decision declaring the shipment as forfeited in favor of the government for violating Section 7 of the Department of Finance (DOF)-BOC-Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Joint Circular 001-2021, prescribing the Implementing Guidelines for Field Testing under the Fuel Marking Program.

Through the provisions of Republic Act 10863 otherwise known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA) and with the approval of the DOF Secretary, the donation intends to assist the PCG in its maritime search and rescue, safety, and security operations. (Ferdinand Patinio)
