ZAMBOANGA CITY – Seven Dawlah Islamiya terrorists, including their leader, surrendered to the Philippine Army in the restive Muslim province of Maguindanao, officials said over the weekend.
Officials said the terrorists led by Homi Abao Abdulmalik surrendered on Friday, October 7, to Lt. Col. Michael Glenn Manansala, commander of the 6th Infantry Battalion in the village of Buayan in Datu Piang town.
They also yielded one M14 rifle, one rocket-propelled grenade, one M653 rifle, one M16 rifle, two sniper rifles, and one M1 rifle.
Brig. Gen. Arturo Rojas, the acting
chief of the Western Mindanao Command, lauded the efforts of soldiers that led
to the surrender of the terrorists. No other details about the group were
