ZAMBOANGA CITY – Police are hunting two motorcycle gunmen who shot dead a Marine soldier in the southern Philippine port city of Zamboanga.
Police said the 36-year old Sgt. Antonieto Docdoc just came out of a motel in Canelar Moret when gunmen attacked him Monday afternoon, November 28. The assailants escaped after the shooting.
"Investigation revealed that at about 1:30 p.m., the victim went out from a motel located at Canelar Moret to buy food. Upon reaching the place of incident, two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects shot the victim several times. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the different parts of his body," a police report said.
Other reports said Docdoc was in a tricycle when gunned down by the two men.
No other details were made available by the police, but it has launched an investigation into the murder.
The Philippine Marines have not issued any statement into the killing nor Docdoc’s family.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the attack, but guns-for-hire are actively operating here. (Mindanao Examiner)
