ZAMBOANGA CITY – A 14-year old student who was lured by his teacher to have sex with him in a local motel had been spirited out of here by her own mother.
The mother, who sells vegetables in Manila, escaped with her daughter on Wednesday, Nov. 30, and flew out of Zamboanga, according to the teen’s father, who suspects that his estranged wife may have received money from the family of the teacher as part of a settlement deal between them.
He said the girl’s mother arrived here last week by plane and was insisting on dropping the charges against the teacher. “She even lied about where she got the plane ticket. She said the school, where our daughter is studying, paid for the ticket, but the school denied everything,” the father told The Mindanao Examiner, adding, “we will pursue the case against the teacher.”
The teenager just returned home from the Department of Social Welfare and Development after days of psychological counselling when she was secretly taken away by her mother.
The 27-year old teacher from the Maria Clara Lobregat High School in the village of Divisoria is currently detained here. He initially denied the allegations against him only to admit it after medical examination showed lacerations on the victim's private parts.
The teacher offered to marry the minor, who is now in Grade 9, but this was flatly rejected by the girl’s father. The teacher, who is facing charges of statutory rape, alleged that the student voluntarily went with him to the motel. (Mindanao Examiner)
