PAGADIAN CITY – Police are holding three people implicated in the murder of a village chieftain and his son three years ago in the town of Naga in Zamboanga Sibugay province in southern Philippines.
The trio - Sherham Timbang Alsree, 33; Karhi Timbang Alsree, 28; and Alih Jaji Alsree, 20 - were all captured in Bangkaw-Bangkaw village where they murdered the village chieftain Abubakar Abdurahim Nieto and also his son on July 4, 2021.
Members of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Special Action Action Force, and the municipal police, backed by troops from the 44th Infantry Battalion raided the hideout of the suspects on Wednesday, March 22.
Security forces also seized one M16 rifle, four .45-caliber pistols, assorted ammunition, magazines, and two hand grenades.
Lt. Gen. Roy Galido, chief of the Western Mindanao Command, praised the capture of the suspects and he attributed the success of the operation to the collaborative efforts of the security forces and the support from the communities.
“This accomplishment concretizes our effective implementation of the whole-of-nation in our area of operation. Rest assured that we will maintain our good relationship with our partners and stakeholders as we continue to work for peace and development here in Mindanao,” he said.
Galido did not say whether the trio were members of a terrorist group or not. (Al Jacinto)
