CAGAYAN DE ORO CITY - The Philippine Coast Guard rescued dozens of passengers from a ferry which ran aground in the town of Maigo in the southern province of Lanao del Norte.

It said 85 people had been accounted for following the mishap which occurred around 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 20.
mong those rescued were five infants, according to the Philippine Coast Guard, adding, the vessel, MV Filipinas Cebu, was supposed to sail to Ozamiz City in Misamis Occidental when the accident occurred.
The passengers were evacuated to safety and there was no report of serious injuries or death. It was unclear what caused the ferry - owned by Cokaliong Shipping Lines - to run aground. The ferry's owner has not issued any statement.
The Philippine Coast Guard also released photos of the rescue and reported no oil spill in the area. (Mindanao Examiner)
