"Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, the suspect knocked at the door of the house of the victim and when the victim opened the door, he was immediately shot by the suspect hitting the lower right portion of his eye which resulted in his instantaneous death," said Major Shellamie Chang, a regional police spokeswoman, adding, the motive of the murder is believed to be personal grudge.

Chang the the 28-year old infantryman was positively identified by Tondo's wife as the killer. "The suspect was positively identified by the wife of the victim who witnessed the incident," she said.

She said the capture of Maata was attributed to the quick response and coordination between the police forces of the two towns.
