CEBU – The Bureau of Immigration has warned foreigners staying in the country to obey laws after an American national, who threatened a local bartender, was arrested by authorities for violating immigration laws.
Bureau of
Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco said the 48-year old Barry Lee Jordan
was arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Division in the house of his
Filipina partner in the village of Upper Buenavista in Carcar City.
“Jordan had
been overstaying in the country for more than seven years or since December 27,
2015 when he last arrived in the country as a tourist,” Tansingco said, adding,
the American was also charged with undesirability after being considered a
threat to his community after video clips of him threatening a bartender with a
knife circulated on YouTube.
He said
Jordan was brought to Manila where he is undergoing deportation proceedings. (Cebu
