KIDAPAWAN CITY - Three suspected drug pushers were killed in a firefight with policemen and soldiers in North Cotabato province in the southern Philippines, officials said Friday.
Officials said policemen were about to serve a search warrant on a house in Marbel village in Matalam town when the trio engaged them in a gunfight Thursday, June 1. A cohort was also captured by the police, according to Lt. Col. Arniel Melocotones, the municipal police chief.
He identified the slain gunmen as Abdulkarin Unsil, Gerald Mangiling and Kanacan Unsil; and their captured companion as Harold Kalunsing. The operation involved members of the Regional Intelligence Division, Special Action Force, the Highway Patrol Group and the Philippine Army.
Recovered from the slain suspects were over 24 grams of crystal meth and two .45-caliber pistols and a .38-caliber revolver, including seven motorcycles. No other details were made available by the police. (Mindanao Examiner)
