CEBU - The National Commission of Senior Citizens (NCSC) said it would like to work with the provincial government in providing health insurance coverage to senior citizens in the province.
The NCSC held an initial meeting with Gov. Gwen Garcia on July 20, according to NCSC chairperson Franklin Quijano who expressed optimism that cooperation with the Capitol would be fruitful.
Garcia also expressed her
openness in helping the NCSC find a place for the construction of its regional
office in Cebu.
NCSC is the primary agency
that promotes the advocacy of, and collaboration between different stakeholders
and senior citizens to ensure the effective implementation of various programs
and services, particularly on the development of seniors and advancing their
health, well-being, and ensuring a supportive and enabling environment for the
elderly.
The NCSC and the World
Health Organization (WHO) recently held their national validation workshop of
the Philippine Plan of Action for Senior Citizens (PPASC) 2023–2028 here. The
two basic objectives of the NCSC and WHO is to present and validate with stakeholders
the draft PPASC 2023-2028 and to develop guidelines for the Philippine Age
Friendly Cities and Communities or PAFCC. (Carlo Lorenciana)
