ZAMBOANGA CITY - At least 22 passengers were injured after their jeep crashed and landed on its side in Zamboanga City in the southern Philippines, police said.
Police said the driver alleged that he lost control of the wheel after avoiding a collision with a motorcycle that suddenly cut on his path late Thursday in the village of Upper Calarian. No one was reported killed in the accident.
The police were investigating the mishap.
Just recently, an overloaded jeep crashed on a downhill curve in Sibuco town in the neighboring province of Zamboanga del Norte and killed one passenger and wounded dozens more.
The accident happened in the village of Paniran with the driver saying he lost his brakes and crashed the jeep carrying over 30 mostly students from Malayal National High School, according to the municipal government, adding the lone fatality was a student.
The victims were heading home when the accident occurred late Monday afternoon, the municipal government reported. The jeep is owned by the Zamboanga City-based D’ Biel Transportation Company, but the firm has not issued any statement up to now. (Mindanao Examiner)
