COTABATO CITY - The remaining provisions of Book II of the proposed Bangsamoro Local Governance Code have been approved during the deliberation of the Bangsamoro Parliament’s Local Government Committee.
The
CLG discussed Titles III, IV, V, and VI, which specify provisions on shares of
local government units in the national taxes, shares in the exploration,
development, utilization of natural resources, and local fiscal administration,
and property and supply management in the local government units.
If
the BLGC is enacted into law, local government units will be given more power,
authority, responsibilities, and resources in a gradual and systematic matter.
Serving
as the interim government of the Bangsamoro region, the Bangsamoro Transition
Authority is mandated to pass the local governance code within the transition
period, along with administrative, civil service, education, electoral,
revenue, and indigenous peoples’ rights codes.
