ZAMBOANGA CITY – Hundreds of fire victims here hailed Maxim food delivery drivers and employees for aiding them following a recent conflagration in the village of Arena Blanco.
Over
700 families were affected by the massive fire caused by a gas leak in one of
the district’s houses. The fire destroyed more than 200 houses, which became an
awful tragedy for many families.
The
service partner drivers and employees of the Maxim office here volunteered to
help the affected families. Together they collected clothes, bed sheets and
personal hygiene items and distributed them among those in trouble. They also
organized a free lunch center for the people in need to enjoy delicious hot
meals.
The
aid campaign became an example to follow for other companies in Zamboanga and
struck a chord in the hearts of many people, according to Ahiddan Mali Maldisa,
head of the Maxim subdivision in Zamboanga. “We thank all the campaign
participants for providing aid to the fire victims and urge all the city
residents not to be indifferent and help each other, because nobody is immune
to accidents,” he said.
Village
leaders also thanked and lauded Maxim for the aid.
“When
we heard people screaming, my son and I ran outside. We managed to take only
the most necessary things with us: a bag with documents and a phone. There was
no way to go back — our house was on fire. We’re thankful to Maxim for helping
out and giving us the opportunity to wash up and have a tasty lunch,” one fire
victim said. (Mindanao Examiner)
