COTABATO CITY – Members of Parliament have provided Colombian Ambassador to the Philippines, Marcela Ordonez, a comprehensive review of the history of the Bangsamoro peace process, highlighting milestones such as the passage of priority codes as outlined in the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
Ordonez recently visited met with lawmakers and she
had a productive exchange of best practices in the implementation of peace
processes. She said the visit seeks to generate a meaningful comparison of
experiences related to the normalization of former combatants, knowledge
sharing on various aspects of peace structures, and devise a strategy for
sustainable peace.
She said it will also help in identifying areas of
potential partnership and mutual benefit for the BARMM and Colombia.
Deputy Floor Leader Atty. Raissa Jajurie expressed
the importance of such exchanges, stating that it reassures the Parliament that
they are not alone in facing the challenges of achieving lasting peace.
These dialogues, she said, offer insights and
encouragement for regions around the world working towards similar goals. (LTAIS-Public
