Kin still mourn loss of boy brutally killed by grandma

LAMITAN CITY – Relatives and family members continue to mourn for the loss of a 12-year old boy who was brutally killed by his own grandmother here.

Village watchmen found the decapitated body of the Angelito Olis at a coconut plantation in the village called Bohe Sapa in Lamitan City last week after the boy disappeared in their house.

This horrifying incident was also confirmed by the provincial government.

The 53-year old grandmother Marilou Tumangquiz was arrested by the village watchmen and handed over to the police. The woman admitted murdering the boy, telling investigators how she dragged the victim to the farm under cover of darkness and there she tied the boy’s petite body to a tree and started hacking him with a bolo until he died.

The boy’s friends and classmates were also shocked upon hearing the news and said they offered prayers.

Family members said the woman is suffering from a mental illness, but this has to be validated by a medical doctor or the police which has mounted an investigation into the gruesome killing.

It was unclear what triggered the grandmother to kill the boy who was alone in the house at that time. The boy’s parents have not issued any statement or whether they would file murder case against the woman. (Mindanao Examiner)
