COTABATO CITY - Following a thorough scrutiny, the Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management (CFBM) has approved the 2024 proposed budgets of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC).
MPW’s budget has the second biggest chunk in the
2024 Bangsamoro Expenditure Program with a 6.88% increase from the current
year’s allocation.
During the budget deliberation, Subcommittee D
Chair Atty. Mary Ann Arnado identified the priorities of MPW for the following
year to help boost the Bangsamoro region's economic growth and develop physical
infrastructure.
She said that the P17.6 billion budget of MPW will
fund road network development, bridge, flood management, water supply, port
rehabilitation, and other infrastructure programs.
Meanwhile, the BSC's P75.3 million budget proposal
for 2024 has increased by 12.3%.
As presented and defended by Member of the
Parliament Atty. Ishak Mastura, this budget will be allocated for sports
development, promotion, and regulation in the Bangsamoro region.
BSC is the primary policymaker for advancing and
executing sports programs in BARMM. (LTAIS- Public Information, Publication,
