BTA approves Public Works, Sports Commission’s budget

COTABATO CITY - Following a thorough scrutiny, the Committee on Finance, Budget, and Management (CFBM) has approved the 2024 proposed budgets of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW) and the Bangsamoro Sports Commission (BSC).

MPW’s budget has the second biggest chunk in the 2024 Bangsamoro Expenditure Program with a 6.88% increase from the current year’s allocation.

During the budget deliberation, Subcommittee D Chair Atty. Mary Ann Arnado identified the priorities of MPW for the following year to help boost the Bangsamoro region's economic growth and develop physical infrastructure.

She said that the P17.6 billion budget of MPW will fund road network development, bridge, flood management, water supply, port rehabilitation, and other infrastructure programs.

Meanwhile, the BSC's P75.3 million budget proposal for 2024 has increased by 12.3%.

As presented and defended by Member of the Parliament Atty. Ishak Mastura, this budget will be allocated for sports development, promotion, and regulation in the Bangsamoro region.

BSC is the primary policymaker for advancing and executing sports programs in BARMM. (LTAIS- Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
