ZAMBOANGA CITY - Unidentified gunmen shot dead a village chieftain in a daring attack on Friday in Zamboanga City in southern Philippines.
Capitan village Serbelio Molina was driving his motorcycle when shot dead by assailants, who fled after the shooting.
Mayor John Dalipe condemned the murder and ordered the police to hunt the killers. He also called on residents to stay vigilant.
No individual or group claimed responsibility for the deadly attack and police mounted an investigation into the killing.
The victim, police said, was shot several times at close range and died instantly.
His family did not release any statement into the motive of the killing. (Mindanao Examiner)
