SOME 5,000 villagers in Tiwi, Albay have started to benefit from medicines, medical supplies and equipment donated to the local government unit (LGU) by the AboitizPower Renewables Inc. (APRI).
In an interview on Tuesday, Dianne Pitallano, APRI information officer, said residents of Lourdes, Bariis, and Cararayan villages, which are the three host barangays of APRI's power plant, now have access to the donations that were distributed to their respective health centers in separate batches last week and this week.
"APRI, with the assistance of the Aboitiz Foundation Inc. (AFI), invested over PHP500,000 to provide necessary medical equipment to support the quality healthcare services in the municipality of Tiwi," she said.
Pitallano said the equipment includes nebulizers, medical beds, digital weighing scales, blood pressure apparatuses, and hygiene kits consisting of face masks, hand towels, nail cutters, alcohol, toilet paper, toothbrush, toothpaste, and disinfectant spray.
The Tiwi local government always wants to expedite the provision of health services to our residents. So I am very happy with the help provided by AP Renewables Inc. which will help improve the service of our barangays in the health aspect)."
APRI vice president for Corporate Services Leonardo Robel Jr. said their company continuously advocates the improvement of healthcare services to their host barangays through the provision of medical supplies and medical equipment. (Connie Calipay)
