ZAMBOANGA CITY – The Social Security System (SSS) Zamboanga Branch recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement with the Department of Labor and Employment 9 - Regional Coordinating Committee (DOLE 9-RCC) for the social security coverage and protection of their Job Order (JO) workers.
It said
through the KaSSSangga Collect Program, some 70 JO workers under the
DOLE-attached agencies will be registered as SSS self-employed
members since they are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System
(GSIS).
Through the KaSSSangga Collect Program, JO workers who are not covered by the Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) will be ensured of their active SSS membership, which will entitle them to various social security benefits such as sickness, maternity, disability, retirement, death, and funeral, including short-term loan privileges like salary and calamity loan. They may also receive Employees’ Compensation benefits for work-related contingencies.
With an automatic salary deduction scheme, JO workers’ monthly contributions will be remitted properly, thus making themselves qualified for benefits and privileges under the Social Security and Employees’ Compensation Programs.
Participating
member agencies under DOLE 9-RCC are National Labor Relations Commission,
National Conciliation Mediation Board, Regional Tripartite Wages and
Productivity Board, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority,
Professional Regulation Commission, Occupational Safety and Health Center, and
Employees’ Compensation Commission. (Mindanao Examiner)
