SULU - Former Second District Congressman Munir Arbison has commended the Bangsamoro Parliament's initiative to conduct public consultations on Parliament Bill No. 267, stressing its relevance to the Bangsamoro people’s interests.
Emphasizing its significance, Arbison lauded the move, stating that it allows Sulu constituents to actively participate in shaping the proposed measure.
During the consultations, diverse voices from Sulu's second district, including local leaders, women, the education sector, and key stakeholders, expressed their perspectives on the proposed establishment of seven parliamentary districts in the province.
The PB No. 267 is crucial as it directly influences the upcoming 2025 parliamentary elections in the Bangsamoro region, as explained by Bangsamoro Parliament Floor Leader and Committee on Rules Chair Atty. Sha Elijah Dumama-Alba.
The proposed distribution of seven districts under PB No. 267 outlines specific allocations: three municipalities to the first district, two to the second, third, and fourth, four to the fifth and sixth, and another two to the seventh.
According to PB No. 267, or the Parliamentary Districts Act of 2023, 32 single-member parliamentary districts will be distributed among all BARMM provinces, cities, municipalities, and geographic areas. (LTAIS-Public Information, Publication, and Media Relations Division)
