ZAMBOANGA CITY – Demonstrating its commitment to social responsibility, the Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) held an outreach mission at the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) Home for Women here.
The Feb. 20 event, organized as part of PhilHealth's 29th anniversary celebration, aimed to provide support and empowerment to women survivors of domestic violence and their children. The DSWD Women's Center was chosen as the beneficiary for its dedication to assisting women in crisis situations.
Nadzmier Sajili, PhilHealth LHIO Chief, emphasized the significance of addressing domestic violence, stating, "Violence against women and their children causes devastating consequences to a person and to society as it hinders individual potential and tears families apart," he said.
Sajili also highlighted PhilHealth's expanded efforts to combat violence against women, stating, "Through this Corporate Social Responsibility program, we at PhilHealth have leveled up our efforts and support to end violence against women as we now go beyond the wearing of orange shirts in our advocacy," he said.
The event included various activities such as PhilHealth Konsulta Orientation and the distribution of essential supplies to support the residents of the DSWD Home for Women. PhilHealth representatives engaged with the women present, expressing admiration for their courage and resilience.
"We believe in empowering women survivors and supporting institutions that provide crucial resources and assistance. This endeavor is a reflection of our values and our dedication to building a safer, healthier, and more hospitable society," Sajili said.
The officers and personnel of the DSWD Home for Women expressed their gratitude to PhilHealth for their support and partnership in addressing issues affecting women in Zamboanga City. PhilHealth, for its part, reaffirmed its commitment to continue supporting initiatives aimed at empowering women and creating a safer environment for all. (Mindanao Examiner)
