The Philippines deployed three FA-50s and accompanied by one US B-52H bomber aircraft on Feb. 19. The patrol started west of Ilocos Sur and ended over Mindoro Strait.

The combined patrol was part of the 3rd iteration of the Maritime Cooperative Activity which Filipino security officials said demonstrated the commitment of both armed forces to enhancing interoperability and advancing regional peace and security in the Indo-Pacific.

It also further strengthens the capability of the Philippine military to perform its mandate and maintain its presence over the Philippines’ exclusive economic zone.

There was no immediate statement from China over the joint patrol. (Mindanao Examiner)
