THIRTY-FIVE mayors from three regions in Luzon and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARRM) have expressed their full support to the administration’s food security program.

The mayors from BARMM, Cordillera Autonomous Region, Regions 1 (Ilocos) and 2 (Cagayan Valley), convened at the Department of Agriculture (DA) head office in Quezon City on Thursday and pledged their unwavering support for President Ferdinand R. Marcos' food security policy.

“Recognizing the paramount importance of securing our nation's food supply, these esteemed leaders expressed their determination to collaborate closely with the government to ensure its successful implementation,” the DA statement said.

During a meeting with DA undersecretaries and program heads, the mayors also expressed readiness to help strengthen the country’s food resilience and vowed to contribute and participate in the department’s projects and programs.

Meanwhile, they also clarified the process for DA’s support and resources that would help them “bolster their efforts in promoting food security within their respective communities”.

The mayors said collaborative initiatives, strategic partnerships, and improved agricultural productivity could help their communities address food insecurity.
