MISAMIS OCCIDENTAL - Governor Henry Oaminal led the distribution of financial assistance to almost 2,500 tricycle drivers in the province, from the national government’s Ayuda para sa Kapos ang Kita Program (AKAP).
Oaminal was also joined by Misamis Occidental Second District Representative Sancho “Ando” Oaminal, who shared in his gratitude for the aid received by Misamisnons in their province.
“We are fortunate to have friends and partners that share our vision of progress in our province,” said the governor in his address to the beneficiaries, and acknowledged the leadership of President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. and House Speaker Martin Romualdez.
Some 2,497 tricycle drivers from the province’s second congressional district were the recipients of AKAP’s P3,000 cash aid, along with 1,374 more beneficiaries from the first congressional district.
“Initiatives like AKAP take us further in our 5Ms mission. Misamisnon Magpuyong Malinawon, Malambuon, ug Malipayon (Misamisnon Live Peacefully, Progressively, and Happily). If we want our fellow Misamisnons to truly live with progress and prosperity, we must continue to help them fill the gaps where their income is limited,” the governor added.
“We can see that this has been considered by our national government and our leaders, which is why this legislation was created to provide assistance to those with insufficient income,” Oaminal continued. “Let's thank those who worked hard to draft this legislation, including our own Congressman Sancho Fernando ‘Ando’ Oaminal, who consulted and prioritized who should receive assistance first—our motorcycle drivers, and various operators.”
Meanwhile, Second District Rep. Sancho Fernando “Ando” Oaminal highlighted the nationwide scope of the activity. According to the congressman, “this is a nationwide activity, meaning the entire Philippines is launching the AKAP in different locations across the country.”
“Various districts are conducting simultaneous launches of the newest DSWD program under the leadership of President Bongbong Marcos,” he added.
AKAP was designed to provide immediate
financial relief to minimum wage earners, low-income earners, and those in
financial distress. The initiative is part of the government's broader effort
to support vulnerable sectors, uplift communities, and promote economic
stability.
