TRANSPORT PROJECTS funded by the International Finance Corporation (IFC) of the World Bank will improve mobility and connectivity in the country, the Department of Transportation (DOTr) said Monday.
During a coordination meeting at the IFC office at the Bonifacio Global City, DOTr Secretary Jaime Bautista said the World Bank provides technical and financial help to several transport projects in the country.
These projects include the Cebu Bus Rapid Transit (BRT), Urban Mass Transport Modernization Program, and e-mobility in public transport.
The coordination meeting, he said, aims to “resolve contentious issues in the four sectors of transportation.”
“We are here precisely to identify those issues and agree on solutions,” he added.
Also discussed during the meeting were resiliency of seaports, local maritime connectivity, and the inter-island ferry decarbonization pilot project.
Other projects of the DOTr and IFC include the modernization of the Iloilo Airport, Bohol-Panglao International Airport, Laguindingan Airport, and the rehabilitation and potential expansion of the Light Rail Transit Line 2 (LRT-2). (Raymond Carl Dela Cruz)
